AT&T Prepaid VS PostPaid: Which is Best For You?
Ngoài xem bài viết này bạn có thể xem thêm nhiều thông tin hữu ích khác do chúng tôi cung cấp tại đây: Xem thêm nhiều kiến thức hơn tại đây
This is the ultimate AT&T comparison video. I’m comparing AT&T Prepaid to AT&T Postpaid and I will help you decide which one is best for you. In case you’re thinking the ONLY difference between the two is when you pay your bill, i’ve got some news for you… there’s a lot to consider.
I’ll be comparing AT&T Unlimited Prepaid and Unlimited Postpaid plans to help you decide which is best for your budget and preferences. There are prepaid and postpaid plan options that AREN’T unlimited, but this video would be really long if I didn’t cut it down to just unlimited options. So one day i’ll compare the rest of the postpaid and prepaid plans, but not today.
I’ll be comparing the two in a few categories:
PRICING PERKS PLANS PHONES COVERAGE
With AT&T unlimited Prepaid you’re looking at two plans: Prepaid Unlimited at $65 but $55 with autopay, and Prepaid Unlimited Plus at $75 or $50 with Autopay.
With Postpaid unlimited you have Starter at $65, Extra at $75, and Elite at $85/month.
Because prepaid is A LOT cheaper (especially if you enroll in autopay) we’re giving them the win here.
Next is perks… perks are any free addons or special things you don’t have to pay for. With an AT&T prepaid plan you get a few perks including free service in Canada + Mexico (if you’re roaming, you may only get 2G speeds instead of full speed LTE), free texting to 100+ countries, and Unlimited Plus gives you a 10GB hotspot and 5G access. Also with AT&T’s prepaid plans, there’s no credit check.
With AT&T’s postpaid plans you get all of the above and more including a FREE HBO Max subscription with Elite, and larger hotspot allowances: 15GB with Extra, and 30GB with Elite. But with AT&T Postpaid plans there is a credit check.
Because you get a few more perks with postpaid plans, we’re giving them the win here.
With Prepaid unlimited you don’t get a hotspot allowance or set amount of high speed data to use which means your data may be slowed down whenever the network is busy… PLUS your video streaming will only be in SD. With Prepaid Unlimited Plus you get 22GB of guaranteed high speed data… but after you use 22GB, your data might be slowed during times of congestion. You also get a 10GB hotspot allotment, can stream videos in HD, and get 5G access.
And with the postpaid plans you get larger data deprioritization thresholds and bigger hotspot allowances free device security, fraud blocking, and spam risk alerts.
Although the plans are more expensive, you get a little bit more in terms of what the plans offer, so we’re giving postpaid plans the win here.
When it comes to phones, postpaid plans win here. There are more phone options available, AND you can pay for the phone you want with an installment plan on postpaid plans… you can’t have an installment plan on prepaid plans.
When it comes to coverage, this one is a tie because they are each on AT&T’s network. If you get a prepaid plan on an AT&T MVNO like Cricket Wireless for instance, your data might be deprioritized in favor of AT&T customers. But when it comes to prepaid and postpaid directly on AT&T’s network, there’s no difference.
So should you go with an unlimited plan from AT&T Postpaid or Prepaid??? If you’re budget oriented, you should 100percent go with AT&T prepaid. Their prices are MUCH cheaper especially when you take into account the autopay discount. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better deal than $50/month for unlimited everything plus a 10GB hotspot! And when you look at the other categories, postpaid only BARELY offers more… You’re getting a killer deal with prepaid.
If you use a lot of data, it might make more sense to go with AT&T Extra or Elite. They have really high deprioritization thresholds meaning, with those plans you can use more data before your data might slow if the network is congested. AT&T’s Postpaid plans also come with slightly more perks, so if you want HBO Max for free, or you want to text over 120 countries vs just over 100…. Then one of the postpaid plans is for you.
If I were to choose between these plans, I’d go with Prepaid Unlimited Plus… all around it offers the best value and gives me everything I need without paying an arm and a leg. Which plan would you choose? Let me know in the comments. I’m sherri riggs with WhistleOut TV!

Verizon: Postpaid VS Prepaid
Verizon has the most coverage in the country and consequently has the most expensive cell phone plans in the country as well. But there are some budgetfriendly options, so which Verizon cell phone plan is best for you?? That’s what i’ll help you figure out today! www.whistleout.com/cellphones
Without looking at multiline or loyalty discounts, Verizon’s prepaid plans are much cheaper than their postpaid counterparts. The cheapest prepaid plan is $30 compared to the cheapest postpaid plan which is $70.
The most expensive prepaid plan is $60 compared to $90. Very easy to see prepaid is cheaper. BUT if you look at multiline discounts or family plan discounts, Verizon postpaid might be the winner for you because Verizon Prepaid doesn’t have multiline discounts. For instance… Verizon’s $70/month postpaid plan turns to $35/Month per line when you have 4 lines and $30 when you have 5 or more. The $80 Play more goes down to $45 per line, along with Do More and Verizon’s Get More originally $90 goes down to $55 per line with four lines.
Now the last thing to look at for price is the loyalty discount that comes with Verizon Prepaid. At month 4 and month 10, you save an extra $5/month on your total plan cost AND if you enroll in autopay you get an additional $5 in savings. So after 9 months of service your $65 Unlimited Prepaid plan goes down to $50/month. You can see on Verizon’s website that these loyalty discounts make a big difference.
Perks are any extras or addons that you don’t have to pay for
If we take a look at prepaid perks you’ll see that there’s not much to write home about. You don’t get much… but depending on the plan you do get mobile hotspot access, free calling to canada and mexico along with free texting to over 200 countries. Not one plan offers all of these perks… Verizon is a little sneaky here offering some perks and charging for others… for instance the hotspot access is free with the $50/month prepaid plan but you don’t get a separate data allotment and with the $65/month prepaid plan you need to pay $5 but you get 10GB of mobile hotspot data with it.
If we take a quick look at the postpaid plan perks you’ll see they blow prepaid out of the water… For instance you get Disney+ free for one year with all unlimited plans, you get Apple Music free, you get 500GB of Verizon Cloud Storage, Hotspot access with dedicated allotments, and free 5G access with a compatible phone.
So postpaid plans wins here.
Starting with data allotments… almost all the plans have some sort of highspeed data allotment. The only plan that doesn’t is the $35/month prepaid plan which is just texting and calling.
With the rest of the prepaid plans you get 5GB, 15GB, or unlimited. With the 5 and 15GB plans you have SOFT data caps meaning once you use up your allotted data your speeds slow to 2G speeds. With the Unlimited prepaid plan you get unlimited highspeed data though your speeds may slow only when the network is congested.
With all of the postpaid plans i’m comparing today, you get unlimited data. Though some plans offer MORE guaranteed highspeed data than others. Basically Start has the least because it’s the cheapest and Get More has the most because it’s the most expensive.
When it comes to phones some carriers only have select phones available for postpaid and prepaid services… and some carriers don’t allow you to buy a phone on an installment plan… With Verizon you can’t buy a phone on an installment plan with prepaid… but you have all the same phone options as the postpaid customers. Because of that i’m giving a full star to postpaid and a half star to prepaid.
The final star count is 2 to prepaid and 3 to postpaid out of a total of 4. Now just because postpaid has more stars doesn’t mean a postpaid plan is better for you than a prepaid! You should go with prepaid IF you’re looking for only 1 or 2 lines because you get a KILLER loyalty discount PLUS an autopay discount saving you $15/month after 9 months of service. You won’t get that with the postpaid plans. I’d also go for prepaid over postpaid if you’re not worried about the extra perks because honestly, those perks raise the cost of the plan.
You should go with postpaid if those perks are something you’d like… personally the extra 500GB of Verizon cloud storage would be amazing and i don’t think that’s been given enough attention… postpaid plans are also great for family plans because you get that gnarly multiline discount!
What does a great Family Postpaid Plan Need to Have?
A great family postpaid plan is one that you don’t need to worry about paying more for every extra line, and comes with lots of data.
